The strategic objective of European integration underpins the whole set of policies promoted by the Ministry of Economy in the field of foreign trade, the efforts being focused on the completion of negotiations concerning the establishment of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. 

 

The Agreement on establishment of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union (DCFTA), initialed on November 28, 2013 in Vilnius, opens extraordinary opportunities for the Republic of Moldova from the perspective of access of domestic goods and services to the market, and of supporting and encouraging deep structural changes required to increase the competitiveness of national economy. This event was preceded by the implementation of the Action Plan developed following the recommendations of the European Commission concerning the establishment of DCFTA. The Ministry of Economy acted as the coordinator of the fulfillment of recommendations, developing and presenting 11 progress reports.

 

The conclusion and implementation of DCFTA will enable creating an expected framework for deploying commercial relations with the EU and will consolidate the trust in the Republic of Moldova and, implicitly, will create investment prerequisites for capitalizing the competitive advantages and obtaining positive long-term economic effects.

 

The commercial policies fostered by the Ministry of Economy throughout 2013 were aimed at consolidating the commercial relations with the countries that are the key commercial partners of the Republic of Moldova, which generates positive evolutions of foreign trade
